Background Check Procedure

Every member of the board of directors and every volunteer who participates on the field in any way, including any volunteer coach, manager, or umpire must complete the official Little League Volunteer Application, which includes a background check and be approved by the MHLL Safety Officer.  All volunteers are required to complete this process each year, regardless of whether they were approved in prior years. 

Little League is using a new background check service this year so the process will be easier and more secure. 

Bring a valid drivers license or government issued ID to an in-person registration session and you will be emailed a link that will allow you to complete your background check online, at your convenience.  You will also be photographed for a volunteer badge at in-person registration. You may also email a photo of your driver's license or government issued ID to: [email protected] to begin the process.  

You will need your drivers license number, social security number, and the names and phone numbers of three references in order to complete the online application.  

In addition to the background check, the Little League Abuse Awareness Course.  The certificate must then be sent to the Safety Officer before a badge will be issued.  

Badges are good for the Spring and Fall season in a year.
